More traffic changes will be coming to Phase One of the West Victoria Street project both today and then this Saturday.
Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell says with the first phase of the work wrapping up, traffic patterns are beginning to revert back to the way they were before construction began.
“This week, the public will notice during the day there’s going to be one lane of traffic westbound through the intersection at 1st and Lansdowne, whereas before it was a four-way stop,” he said. “Basically the public, other than the work happening right on Victoria Street, what they will see at the far east end is what you would have seen before construction started.”
He notes all of the barriers at 2nd and 3rd Avenue as well as by BCLC on Seymour Street will be gone.
This Saturday, when fully reopened, Crundwell says Seymour Street will return to two lanes of one-way traffic heading east, while two-way traffic will also resume on 1st Avenue. Currently, 1st Avenue is southbound traffic only.
Crundwell though notes the slip lane from Victoria Street West to Seymour Street will remain closed until further notice.
