A new boutique hotel in Kamloops could be open to the public within two weeks.
Co-owner of The Hue Hotel Jassi Sangha says he expects to be open by early September.
He says his family has held the property for more than two decades.
“We really felt comfortable once we figured out that the casino was moving up to Aberdeen, we felt that was a no-brainer for us to start building the hotel there,” he said. “Even though the location is good, it’s off the highway, you never really quite know how a hotel is going to do.”
“In Aberdeen, there’s so many different types of hotels for people to choose from. But having the casino literally right next door to us, I think that really helps us out.”
The six-storey hotel will have 38 rooms and it will be the tallest building in Aberdeen.
“For our family, we left the business community in 2012,” Sangha added. “We still lived in Kamloops but didn’t have any businesses here. So for us, to be back in the community as business people, that’s a big step for us. That means that we’re here to stay for a long time.”
“This was the first project that we kind of did as a family, so everyone was involved. My wife, my parents, my sisters.”
