
As people prepare for the upcoming school year, four educators from our region are up for some prominent recognition.
The Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education will be handed out October 4th in Victoria.
Three teachers and one principal from School District 73 are up for the prestigious awards. “We have three teachers and one principal. They are presented annually to exceptional education professionals in BC and we have four exceptional individuals who have been nominated.”
The three teachers nominated are Denise Underwood from McGowan Park Elementary for technology and innovation.
Ivy Chelsea from Chase and Jordan Smith from the Twin Rivers Education Centre are up for the Indigenous Education Award.
Nominated for the School Leadership Award is Juniper Ridge principal Carol DeFuhr.
The awards will be handed out on October 4th in Victoria.
