People in Logan Lake got to meet the owners of a company planning to build a large industrial cannabis facility in town last week.
CAO Randy Lambright says MedFlora addressed concerns around odour, waste management, water consumption and other issues for the facility it is planning to build at the end of Apex Drive.
“Our hope is, is that as long as you come in, have a look and digest what’s being presented, and even after all of that you disagree, that’s fine too, because then you’re making an informed decision. But I did certainly talk to some folks who came in and they had their fears allayed, and others, they weren’t. And that’s fine too,” Lambright says.
“I think MedFlora has indicated from a timeline perspective, they would like to get some site clearing done this year, some trees being taken down as well as some dirt moved. And then with a hope of having concrete on the ground sometime in the spring of next year, and then start construction. I think they have an aggressive timeline but I think it’s realistic.”
Lambright says a report on MedFlora’s plan will be at the next municipal council meeting, and he says a public hearing will likely happen two weeks later.
Latest plans from the company showed a concrete-based cannabis facility with near 500,000 square feet of space, and the company expects it will bring upwards of 100 jobs to the community.
