The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) has been called to investigate a crash involving a pickup and motorcycle yesterday afternoon in Westsyde.
Police were conducting speed enforcement and the motorbike was seen speeding towards an officer. The officer turned their sirens on and tried to pull the driver over.
“Soon after, the police officer located the motorcycle further down the road at a collision with a pickup truck,” said Dawn Roberts, with the BC RCMP, in a release. “The male driver of the motorcycle was transported to hospital, suffering from serious injuries. The individuals in the truck were uninjured.”
Roberts says the investigation at the scene of the collision has been completed, but the investigation into the collision is still going. The IIO BC will be looking at whether the actions or inactions of the police officer are linked to the man’s injuries.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP and reference file #2019-30648.
