The federal election campaign is in full swing and one of the candidates in our area has plenty to say about one of topics on many Canadians priority lists.
The health care system is on many Canadian’s minds heading towards next month’s elections.
Speaking on the NL Morning News, Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP and Conservative candidate Cathy McLeod said there is one concern she’s hearing repeated. “One thing you do hear about is worry, whether it’s Kamloops or the rural areas is the doctor shortage.”
“So, that again is an area I haven’t seen much progress on in the last four years. People are very concerned. If they don’t have a doctor and you have some health issues it’s a really worrisome position.”
McLeod says there are a lot of things the federal government can do through it’s immigration process, like supporting the colleges in terms of the credentialing before people come to Canada.
“And there are ways that the federal government, through it’s immigration process, through it’s credentialing, supporting the colleges in terms of the credentialing before people come over. There are lots of things that they can do.”
Also running against McLeod is Liberal Terry Lake, the Green Party’s Iain Currie, Ken Finlayson with the People’s Party of Canada, Kira Cheeseborough with the Animal Protection Party of Canada, and Peter Kerek with the Communist Party of Canada.
