Open burning bans across the Kamloops Fire Centre will be lifted as of noon tomorrow, Sept. 18, today because of a lower risk of wildfires.
That means people will once again able to use fireworks and burn barrels as well as binary exploding targets among other things.
The regulations will apply on all public and private land unless otherwise specified, and so people are encouraged to check with with local officials before doing any burning.
As well, if people are planning any Category 3 open burning – that’s any fire larger than 2 metres by 3 metres – they have to get an active burn registration number free of charge ahead of time by calling 1-888-797-1717.
Those numbers allows the BC Wildfire Service to track open burning activity throughout the province.
