There were no injuries after a semi-tractor trailer caught fire on the Trans Canada Highway, west of Revelstoke yesterday afternoon.
Police say the incident happened around 5 p.m. yesterday, noting the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
“The driver did indicate however, while travelling westbound, after applying the brakes, observed fire coming from the rear passenger tires,” said Cpl. Thomas Blakney.
At the time of the fire, the semi was carrying mechanical parts on wooden pallets, and Blakney says rainfall in the area helped extinguish the fire.
The highway is open in both directions, but it was closed for about 30 minutes after the incident.
