The TRU Student Union Eco Club has organized a Climate Rally this afternoon.
Club President Stacia Panko is hoping to see a big crowd out for the event.
“Starting at the Campus Activity Centre (CAC) on the TRU campus. We’re planning to do a bit of a circle walk around the campus, around the circle outside the CAC,” she said. “And then we’re going to walk out to the road, I believe along McGill so that people passing by are able to see our march and then ending at the clock tower that’s on campus as well.”
Panko says it makes her excited to see the issue brought to light right now.
“And that it’s young people as well that are just becoming so critically engaged, seeking information and answers and also solutions and its’ really inspiring to see this whole younger generation standing up for the environment and just growing awareness for one of the biggest issues that we’re facing right now,” Panko added.
“It’s the Eco Club’s mission is to promote sustainability and eco-conscious on the TRU campus, so it just made sense.”
The rally will be held between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., and it’s all part of today’s Global Climate Strike being held across the world.
