Update –
A fire near the Christ Community Church burned some hedges and shed on Courtenay Crescent this afternoon in Kamloops.
Two homes also sustained some heat damage, but there were no injuries reported.
Kamloops Fire Rescue captain Wade Lindoff says crews were driving through the area when they first saw signs of the fire.
“They started driving this way and they contacted our dispatch and we had it paged out as a structure fire,” Lindoff said. “So the first arriving truck got on scene and found those large cedar trees there, they were on fire.”
Lindoff says a shed was also damaged by fire, and two homes on either side sustained heat damage.
No one was hurt and as of this afternoon, the cause remained unknown.
Original –
There is a large fire burning near the Christ Community Church on the North Shore in Kamloops.
Details are sparse at this point, but we have a reporter en route to the scene.
It’s believed that the fire started in the trees and brush, which then spread to a nearby house.
More to come.

.@KamFire Captain Wade Lindoff says a fire truck happened to be driving by and saw the flames before the fire was called in, so crews were on scene moments for a quick stop. Fire investigators just arriving now, cause still has not been determined. @RadioNLNews #Kamloops
