A five-goal second period propelled the Kamloops Blazers to an 8-1 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds at Sandman Centre, their third straight win in the young WHL season.
Kyrell Sopotyk opened the scoring in the first period – he had two goals on the night – while Brodi Stuart, Connor Zary, Sean Strange, and Martin Lang all had goals of their own in the second period.
Lang would also add two assists to finish with a three point night.
Orrin Centazzo continued his recent run of form with two goals in the third period, his second two-goal outing in as many games.
The Thunderbirds tied the game in the first on a goal by Conner Roulette, to bring a physical first period to an end at 1-1, but it was all Blazers after that in front of 3,371 fans.
Logan Stankoven, Ryan Hughes, and Zane Franklin all assisted on two goals each, Brodi Stuart added an assist to go with his goal, while Quinn Schmiemann and Josh Pillar also finished with an assist each.
In all, seven Blazers would finish with a multi-point night.
Roddy Ross, who stopped 50 shots the last time these two sides met lasted 40 minutes, allowing six goals on 33 shots. His replacement Blake Lyda allowed two goals on 10 shots.
By comparison, Dylan Garand had a relatively quiet night in net, but he still had to make 25 saves for this third win of the season.
The Blazers host Everett next on Saturday, October 5 to cap off their homestand, with a 7 p.m. puck drop at Sandman Centre. Coverage on Radio NL begins at 6:30 p.m.
