
About 1,000 Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4879 members at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) have ratified a new contract with the university.
The three-year agreement applies to people who work as system analysts, accountants, cashiers, bookstore clerks and buyers, registration and admissions clerks, maintenance and utility staff, library technicians, ancillary staff, and open-learning support staff.
It is retroactive to April 1, and will end of March 31, 2022, with a six per cent wage increase – two per cent each year.
The agreement also includes the creation of a new position to assist TRU staff with supporting mental health and wellness. It also has additional funding for resources and programs for wellness, innovation and training that support service improvements.
The agreement was ratified an agreement under government’s Sustainable Services Negotiating Mandate.
