The new Managing Director of the Mustard Seed Kamloops says he hopes the organization can help find affordable housing in Kamloops for people in need.
Mario Borba says he wasn’t expecting to see a number of challenges in Kamloops when it comes to finding housing for the city’s homeless population.
“We have seventeen rooms available upstairs in the day-room in the Mission Outreach that we need to fill by the end of this year,” he said on NL Newsday. “And we just need to find the right program and the right module that we want to implement there so we can start to fill those rooms.”
Borba says while opening up those rooms will help seventeen people, that’s not anywhere near what is needed to help everyone in need.
“We hope in the future that we can find creative ways to tackle that problem in another way,” Borba added.
He says he’s hoping the Mustard Seed Kamloops will eventually become a place where clients will have their every need met, whether its employment, housing or health services.
