Work is expected to resume on a major seniors housing project in downtown Kamloops.
Executive director of the Centre for Seniors Information Brenda Prevost says the paperwork is done for a residential seniors tower at Sixth and Victoria and construction crews will be back on site within two weeks.
She says there have been some delays.
“The delays are primarily the paperwork that’s associated with taking out the mortgages, etcetera, with BC Housing and the developer. There’s no problem with the project itself, the project will move ahead. It’s just that the paperwork has taken a little bit longer. As you can imagine BC Housing is extremely busy with so many builds going on throughout the province. So we still anticipate that 2021 the building will be open, at the latest.”
The affordable seniors tower will see 112 units and ground-floor commercial space. It will be managed by the CSI once complete.
“We’re hoping within two weeks they will be doing some of the excavating. We should be seeing a fairly large hole show up in the next little while… It’s just a matter of getting the crews back on the job.”
