BC RCMP say a 23-year-old woman from the Cariboo-Chilcotin area was killed in yesterday’s head on crash, east of Cache Creek.
Cpl. Mike Halskov says there were only two vehicles involved in the crash that happened around 3 p.m., near Juniper Beach Provincial Park.
“The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time, but early indications are the vehicle being driven by the young woman had crossed a centre line and collided head on with the eastbound pick up truck,” he said. “The driver of the other vehicle sustained significant injuries and was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.”
Halskov adds while nothing has been ruled out just yet, police don’t expect the investigation to be criminal in nature.
“We do want to find some answers as to what may have caused this individual to cross the centre line,” Halskov added.
Drive BC reports the highway was closed for about five hours after the crash, and it reopened around 8 p.m.
