Mark your calendars Blazers fans.
On February 21 and 22, 2020, the Kamloops Blazers will be celebrating their Western Hockey League championship win from 1984, 1986, 1990, 1992, 1994, and 1995. Blazer alumni and management will be back in the city to reminisce and share stories with the entire community.
“2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the Blazer’s last Memorial Cup win in 1995, winning three times in a span of four years,” said Team President and COO, Don Moores. “The Kamloops Blazers have won the most Memorial Cups of any WHL team and we wanted to take the opportunity to commemorate it by bringing the teams back who made it all happen.”
The weekend will kick off with a performance by Gord Bamford and his #REDNEK Music Fest at Sandman Centre on February 21. Joining Bamford will be Platinum-selling JUNO Award winner Jess Moskaluke, JoJo Mason, Eric Ethridge, Andrew Hyatt, Cory Marks, Duane Steele, and GhostBoy.
Also that evening will be an Up Close & Personal pre-show with Blazers alumni Rob Brown, Ken Hitchcock and Shane Doan.
“Kamloops has become a special place for me and my family,” added Bamford, who’s son Nash was drafted by the Blazers earlier this year. “I’m honoured to kick off the Blazers Memorial Cup celebration with our amazing lineup of artists. You can’t get more Canadian than country music and hockey.”
On February 22, there are ceremonies planned in Sandman Centre as the Blazers will be hosting the Calgary Hitmen for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
On that day, Blazer alumni and guests will also be attending a brunch honouring members of the Canadian Military including the Royal Canadian Legion branch 52, ANAVETS and the Rocky Mountain Rangers.
Tickets to the Gord Bamford #REDNEK Music Fest will go on sale on Ticketmaster starting on October 25. Prices start at $39.50.
