The Tk’emlups te Secwepemc chief indicates her council had a positive discussion with the federal Green Party leader this week.
Rosanne Casimir says Elizabeth May visited on Tuesday, saying she invited May after meeting her last week in Vancouver, at the Union of BC Indian Chiefs.
“A lot of our Secwepemc values are in alignment with the Green values, when it comes to the protection of the lands and the resources. And of course the importance of one’s health and surroundings you reside in,” Casimir says.
“To come to our table, meet with chief and council, because it’s also on our council day, we had to let her know, and Iain know, some of the initiatives happening here within TteS. And (we heard) a little bit about their platform and their candidacy, and we wish them well.”
May was in Kamloops to campaign for Green party candidates in the area.
