Kamloops city staff say the number of small businesses continues to grow in the Tournament Capital.
Business license inspector Dave Jones says there are 5,996 registered businesses in Kamloops. He says 2,100 are home-based businesses and he estimates more than half would be considered small business.
“The numbers are increasing again this year. Every year we have a number of businesses who close or move on, but obviously our numbers continue to grow. So we may lose a couple of hundred but obviously are up again for this year.”
Jones says there is a lot more work for contractors in the trades, with plenty of construction going on, and also says a lot of tech industries coming to town.
