It was a night of record breaking temperatures in the Okanagan last night, but not in Kamloops.
Environment Canada Forecaster Doug Lundquist says the cold temperatures are because of an arctic front that came through the Southern Interior yesterday.
“Kelowna had a low of -8 C, the old record was -7.2 C in 1935. Penticton was -8.7 C, the old record was -7.5 C in 1991,” he said. “The overnight low in Kamloops was -8.9 C, so pretty similar to what we had here in the Okanagan, but it wasn’t a record”
Lundquist says in Kamloops we we could see lows of around -6 C tonight.
“It was pretty much the coldest night last night, but then there’s a gradual warm up through to Halloween.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, Environment Canada is calling for a high of 7 C, and a low of -2 C for Halloween this Thursday.
