Operation Red Nose Kamloops is looking for volunteers ahead of this year’s campaign, set to begin in a month.
Campaign Co-ordinator Katie Klassen says they’re looking for about 250 volunteers this year for 15 nights of service.
Last year, there were 200 volunteers who filled 623 volunteer positions, and Klassen says volunteers can sign up solo, or in teams of three.
“We’re still including Thursday nights, so all the Thursday nights in December, we’re running from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., and then on Friday and Saturday, running 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., and so just getting those handful more volunteers to help to help during the really busy weekends in December, ” she said.
The campaign will run on November 29, 30, and then December 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, and 31. As it stands right now, Klassen says they have about 40 volunteers signed up.
“We continue to grow, we continue to provide more rides, raise more money for PacificSport Interior BC. Last we again, we finished first in the province, and finished 12th in Canada. If we want to see really big growth, we just need those volunteers to come out.”
In its 23rd year, Operation Red Nose Kamloops is also hoping to raise $35,000 this year for PacificSport Interior BC.
New volunteers have to compete a volunteer application form and complete a police information check. Volunteers returning from 2017 and 2018 only need to fill out the application form, which is available at the Tournament Capital Centre, Volunteer Kamloops, and the Desert Gardens Seniors Community Centre or at OperationRedNose.com.
