Could another mural be installed on a parkade in downtown Kamloops? The city isn’t ruling it out.
Director of Community Services Byron McCorkell says there have been discussions of putting a mural on the Seymour Street parkade.
“The first project, the arts project, came forward as part of a streetscaping plan that went on, and I think the reaction that we got from the community was that it was well-received,” he said. “And so we’ve got the idea to do the Seymour Street one too at some point, but at this point it’s simply a concept.”
The city spent $150,000 to install a mural at the Lansdowne Parkade this year, which McCorkell says is now a signature piece in the community.
“We have no direction to go forward [on the Seymour Street Parkade] or anything like that but its been discussed and maybe one day we’ll see something happen.”
McCorkell was asked if costs would be similar to the Lansdowne Street parkade?
“Too soon to say. I mean it may not be the same type of treatment. Who knows?”
He says the mural on Lansdowne has become a signature piece of the community.
