The city’s finance director says utilities under the parking lot downtown where a performing arts centre is proposed will need to be moved.
Kathy Humphrey says the work to move water, sewer, and Hydro lines will cost between $3 and $6 million.
She says Kamloops city staff now plan to do an in-depth analysis.
“That is the intent, I mean we have engineers who have done really rough estimates of that, and those are estimates that have been around for quite a long time. We’ve known that the utilities run through the lane of the property for years and years and year.”
Humphrey says the city already has about $3 million in reserves for that work.
