The Vice President for the Children’s Circle Daycare Society (CCDS) says they will do what they can to be a good neighbour in the Sagebrush neighbourhood.
Evan Goulet was speaking on NL Newsday, after council approved the daycare, despite some opposition from area residents.
“We’ve been a good neighbour wherever we’ve been,” he said. “We’ve had our location down on St. Paul since 1996. We’ve had our other location for our older children by the hospital for a while now. We always do our best to be respectful of people around us.”
He is confident that once the daycare is operational, people who were opposed to the plan will see the benefits of having it in their neighbourhood.
“I think there’s always work to be done to be a good neighbour,” Goulet added. “Even if you start as a good neighbour, it still takes work in any sort of relationship or neighbourhood.”
Goulet says the goal is to have shovels in the ground within six to eight weeks, and the hope is to have the daycare built in about a year.
