Upgrades to the Canada Games Pool will likely include improvements to the pool heater system.
Civic facilities manager Jeff Putnam says detailed designs will be worked on this winter for the project.
“In terms of actual GHG emissions, the Canada Games Pool heater produces 10 per cent of the City of Kamloops total GHG emissions. So anything we can do to that will significantly reduce our carbon footprint.”
Starting next year, the Canada Games Pool will undergo upgrades to its roof and mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems which will cost more than $9 million.
City staff will be determining a more specific scope of that work when they close the pool for two weeks in December.
