In the new year, the city will take over operating the parkades on Seymour and Lansdowne Streets, and Saturday’s may no longer be free.
Kamloops city council will discuss implementing Saturday fees at its meeting next week. Administration recommends aligning the parkades’ parking rates with those of the City’s surface lots to ensure consistency for customers who utilize city parking services.
It is proposing to charge $1.25 for the first two hours and $2.50 for a third hour. If Council approves paid parking in the parkades on Saturdays, the revenue projections are $62,000 and $78,000 per year. That assumes between 100 and 125 parking stalls will be occupied throughout the day.
Also on Tuesday, council will be presented with the proposed timeline for the Parking Management Plan.
