Kamloops has a new top cop.
50 year old Inspector Syd Lecky has been selected as the new Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP detachment.
Lecky has spent the previous 4 ½ years in Terrace with the last 2 years in charge of the Terrace RCMP.
“We’ve got challenges with the opioid crisis, you know, there’s problems with property crime, and other things that are ongoing. So there is challenge, but challenge brings opportunity as well. So, looking forward to seeing what we can do, meeting with council, meeting with our partner agencies, relationship building, and see what needs to be done next, and where we can improve on.”
Kamloops Mayor Ken Christian,
“We need a continued focus on disrupting the drug trade, and anti-gang activity in Kamloops. As well, we need to continue our focus on criminal intelligence, and crime analysts.”
Lecky should take over the reins sometime in the summer.
