It could get a whole lot colder in Kamloops over the next several days, starting tomorrow, because of an arctic cold front settling into the area.
Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says the temperatures could be as much as 10 C below normal.
He says this cold snap could last anywhere from ten days to two weeks.
“We’re looking at our coldest days being Thursday night and Friday night, with temperatures getting down to about -12 C,” he said. “It’s not expected to be quite at record breaking temperatures, since those temperatures are more in the -20 C’s range.”
Sekhon says while he’s not expecting a lot of snow over the next few days, he notes there’s always the possibility for it, especially at the higher elevations.
“It’s mainly going to be a dry, cold period,” Sekhon said. “Having said that, with the cold air in place, if there happened to be any sort of moisture that would result in snow. But at this point, we’re not expecting any systems that would be producing any significant snowfall.”
Sekhon says the normal temperatures for this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 2 C and lows of -4 C.
