Police in Barriere continue to investigate the alleged attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl from Friday afternoon.
Cpl. Rob Welsman says investigators have canvassed local residents looking for witnesses. He says police are also following up on tips received from the public.
“RCMP have liaised with local school officials to ensure that all parents and students are aware to remain vigilant,” Welsman said. “Further patrols are being made and all possible investigative avenues are being explored.”
The RCMP are urging people who travelled north on Dunn Lake Road from Barriere Town Road on Friday afternoon between 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to contact police, even if they do not have any specific eyewitness information.
Police said on Friday that the girl was able to free herself before running away.
The suspect was described as a 40-year-old man, standing 5’7″, with hazel eyes, short brown hair, and a full beard about four inches long. He was wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt with black letters and black pants when the incident happened.
