Police have seized a significant amount of drugs and cash as well as a handgun and drug trafficking materials, after search warrants at a Kamloops business and two homes on opposite ends of the city.
Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says search warrants were carried out late last night, at Sunshine Gardens Superstore on Kelly Douglas Road, at a home in the 100-block of Knollwood Drive, in Valleyview and at a home in 1000-block of Kinross Place in Aberdeen.
She says police seized “substantial amounts” of illegal drugs including fentanyl, meth, cocaine and marijuana, as well as 40-caliber handgun and ammo, $350,000 cash and items used for drug trafficking.
Two men – aged 50 and 24 – were arrested last night when the search warrants were carried out. Shelkie says they have been released from custody and charges are being recommended.
“It will definitely in the short term, it will be felt in the drug community, the lack of these drugs available to them,” she noted. “But when drugs are seized off the road, unfortunately, other people step in to supply them. But it will definitely have an impact on the streets for a while.”
The RCMP Targeted Enforcement Unit and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. took part in the execution of the search warrants as well.
Shelkie says more information will be released from the police if charges are laid.
