The CAO in Sun Peaks says a local group is making progress on plans to build a skate park in the village.
Rob Bremner says the non-profit Sun Peaks Skate Park Foundation recently spoke to staff, mayor and council on the plan.
“It’s a local group, they’ve been in the community now for seven or eight years and trying to plan and fund raise. They’re kind of just getting ready to make the next step and do some design work,” he says. “And they were just updating us as to what the plans are and making sure we’re still on board with the project.”
Bremner says a skate park would cost about $500,000, and he says the municipality has committed to pay the final $50,000 that is needed.
“So once they get to whatever the cost of the facility will be, once they get to $50,000 away from that mark, we’ll be the last $50,000 and top it off, and then we’ll also provide some land for them to put it.”
