The City of Kamloops has spent just over half a million dollars this year on two new trucks to clear snow.
Streets manager Glen Farrow says the city has had one of those trucks on the road for some time already.
“One of our new pieces of equipment is a tandem truck. On that truck we have an extended blade, so rather than the blade just being underneath the body of the truck we’re able to extend it out and clear more snow during that pass. So in theory you’re making less passes on a street to remove that snow to the edge of the road.”
Farrow says the other piece of equipment is a single-axel truck which has been budgeted for already and the city is waiting for it to arrive.
“They’re very specific, very unique, and we’re essentially waiting on the suppliers.”
Farrow also advises residents to give crews the room they need to clear snow off the streets.
