A pair of Blazers will play at the 2020 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Hamilton next month.
Forward Connor Zary and goaltender Dylan Garand will both represent the Blazers, ahead of hopefully hearing their names early at the 2020 NHL Draft.
Zary is having a good season with 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points, good for fifth in the WHL scoring race. The 18-year-old leads all first-time draft eligible skaters in goals and points, and is ranked an ‘A’ prospect by NHL Central Scouting which indicates a potential first round NHL pick.
Second year goalie Garand meanwhile has an 18-8-1-1 record on the season with a 2.40 goals against average and a .919 save percentage. The 17-year-old leads all WHL goaltenders in minutes played this season.
The CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will be held on Jan. 16.
Blazers prospects to wear the Maple Leaf
As well, Blazers prospects G Dylan Ernst and defenseman Mats Lindgren will wear the Maple Leaf at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic games in Switzerland next month.
Ernst was the first goaltender taken in the 2019 WHL draft when the Blazers picked him in the second round, while Lindgren was the teams first round pick and 7th player taken overall.
The 2020 Youth Olympics are in Lausanne, Switzerland from Jan. 9 to Jan. 22.
