The Coordinator for Health Promoting at the Kamloops-Thompson School Board spoke with the provincial health authority about vaping and what is being done about the issue at SD73.
Sherry Stade says it is working on a huge intervention program and was updating Interior Health about what is going on. “Addressing a knowledge gap that many adults have with regards to their understanding of vaping, what is vaping, what is an e-juice, what happens to your body. So, we are starting at the grade 6 & 7 level. We have already facilitated to 1600 students.”
Stade says Interior Health is wanting to stay up to date on what the school boards is doing in order to know how it can provide support. “Interior Health is interested in what we’re doing. They want to know how can they support us. What the students are telling us is they want to know the science, the factual information around what happens to your body when you do vape and they want to to know what the supports are out there so they can quit.”
