The Kamloops Thompson School District has a number of ideas in mind for addressing capacity needs for elementary schools.
SD73 board chair Kathleen Karpuk a large priority is buying Crown land in Pineview to build a new school, which the school district has now applied to do.
“We have challenges up in the Aberdeen area, that’s part of the reason we’ve been asking for a school in Pineview Valley. We have portables at almost every single one of those elementary schools. If we had a school in Pineview Valley, we would be able to get rid of most of those portables.”
Karpuk says Juniper and Dallas are two other rapidly-growing neighborhoods with limited school space, and she says the school district may be looking at a catchment change in those areas.
