The Tk’emlúps Indian Band and the City of Kamloops have signed a new agreement covering the extension of bus service to Sun Rivers.
The announcement made today at a meeting between both groups by Community Services Manager Sarah Candido.
Candido says at the moment the city is trying to determine where to put the routes and bus stops.
“We are very very excited and the people of Tk’emlúps are excited and we can’t wait to move forward with it.”
Chief Fred Seymour says the band’s costs for the service has actually gone down to $150,000 from $250,000 with service set to begin this fall.
“We are looking at probably this September. I reported out earlier it would be a minimal cost to us.”
The exact date for the bus service to begin has not yet been announced.
