
A rough morning commute for Kamloops drivers today due to snowy and slippery streets.
Around 8:15 a.m., a pair of city buses were stuck on Columbia Street near 1st Avenue, leading to big lineups behind them. There are also reports of stalled vehicles heading up the hill towards Columbia Place, due to the weather.
Heading towards downtown, there’s also a report of a stalled vehicle Columbia and 3rd Avenue, causing some delays on the morning commute.
Traffic is moving in both directions, however drivers are asked to be extremely careful.
Meantime, a crash on the east end of the Halston Bridge, near Salish Road, caused huge traffic delays along Halston Avenue. However, as of 9:30 a.m., it appears that has been cleared.
Around 9:30 a.m., there were reports of two new crashes on Highway 1 in Kamloops, both just east of the exit for Dallas Drive.
A semi-truck going east reportedly flipped over, while in the same area, a westbound vehicle reportedly rolled over as well.
On area highways, conditions are reportedly snowy and slippery, with a travel advisory in place on the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt, and on Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon between Lytton and Hope.
Environment Canada is calling for periods of snow to continue through Tuesday into Wednesday.
