The City of Kamloops is working with the Tk’emlúps Indian Band on flood preparations after last years major flooding event.
Kamloops Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Dan Sutherland says both parties have been meeting since the beginning of the year.
“We are building on history that we started really strongly last year out of growing out of need. It was our pleasure and honour to assist the Kamloops Indian Band last year with some of the challenges around emergency management and more than happy to help Tk’emlúps with their emergency management program.”
Sutherland says the two are working together on training, communication, and joint preparation should another flooding even occur.
After last summer’s epic flooding the Tk’emlúps Indian Band expressed serious concerns with the flood response.
