A quiet trade deadline for the Kamloops with just the one notable acquisition ahead of the 2 p.m. trade deadline.
The Kamloops Blazers traded for 19-year-old forward Tyler Carpendale from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.
Carpendale hasn’t played a game yet this season, but the Powell River native has 27 points (9G, 18A) in 81 regular season WHL games, most of which (22 points in 60 games) came last season.
Tyler is a player that caught our attention last season,” said GM Matt Bardsley. “He will give us some additional size in our lineup and plays with good speed along with a heavy game. He is currently rehabbing an injury and will provide us with additional depth in our lineup as we hit the stretch run leading up to the playoffs.”
Carpendale scored the first goal of his WHL career at the Sandman Centre against the Blazers on Nov. 29, 2017 on former Blazer goaltender Dylan Ferguson.
There were two other minor moves made by Bardsley on deadline day, adding 18-year-old goalie Brett Balas from the Spokane Chiefs for a 9th round pick in 2021 to shore up depth in the crease behind Dylan Garand and Rayce Ramsay.
The Blazers also sent 16-year-old defenseman prospect Luke Rybinski to the Medicine Hat Tigers for a sixth round pick in 2020.
The team’s biggest move came yesterday when they added Czech import defenseman Libor Zabransky from Moose Jaw yesterday with fellow Czech Marty Lang going the other way.
