A well-known TV series will be filming in downtown Ashcroft starting next week.
Sources say the CBS Series called “Twilight Zone” is in the village filming for part of its second season. Season one was filmed in the Lower Mainland, and season debut will debut later this year.
Film commissioner Victoria Weller with the Thompson Nicola Regional District couldn’t say what the show is, but says it is a popular TV drama that’s in town.
“I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s going to be interesting to see, let’s put it that way,” Weller says.
She adds that the activity in Ashcroft is good for the local economy.
“What I really like about filming at this time of year, is that this is the shoulder seasons for a lot of hotels, restaurants, and for sales in small towns. So this sort of gives a good boost to the economy after the Christmas rush.”
Weller says filming will happen from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 and Feb. 3 to Feb. 7, and says the casting company is looking for extras to play as townspeople, as well as crew people to work on set. The pay for extras starts at $14 per hour, with overtime pay after eight hours, and work days can last 12 hours or more.
“They’re hoping people who don’t mind driving will apply. They would like to cast local, but if people want to apply that’s good too,” Weller says.
People interesting in being an extra can apply at BCF Casting.
