The new coordinator of the Mustard Seed thrift store in downtown Kamloops says the store will have a fresh, new look when it opens this spring.
Speaking on NL Newsday, Diana Corriveau says the idea is to make the store more appealing so more Kamloopsians stop by.
“I opened up a Value Village store up in Northern Ontario, and we nailed it with giving the store a uniform look, a fresh look, so fresh paint, all the fixtures look very similar to each other, they don’t look donated,” she said. ”
“We want to give it an upscale look.”
Proceeds from the thrift store will go towards supporting clients of the Mustard Seed in Kamloops.
“There’s many treasures to be found. People spend a lot of money on their merchandise and to give it up in to the hands of the Mustard Seed,” Corriveau added. “I take great pride in that, and I look forward to getting those items into good loving homes, helping the community at the same time.”
She says he has 25 years of experience in the retail sector, and says she’s proud to be coordinating the relaunch of the Mustard Seed thrift store.
“I drove by the Mustard Seed a few times and asked my son, what is the Mustard Seed? And when I was applying for jobs in Kamloops, I came across the Mustard Seed thrift store and I went, ‘gee I have 25 years of experience, and I opened up a thrift store,'” she said.
“It was just a good marriage – the two – and I thought I’m going to apply and see what this organization is all about, and I fell in love with it.”
To facilitate the opening, the organization is accepting donations of gently used clothing, decor, jewelry, and other small household items.
