A Penticton woman with ties to Kamloops plans to buy a new truck and trailer with the proceeds from a $500,000 lottery win earlier this month.
Anna Fodor was born in Kamloops, and says she nearly missed out on her prize, after realizing that she did not with the record-breaking $70-million jackpot.
“I had checked on the BCLC website and I didn’t have any winning numbers on the main draw,” she said. “I didn’t realize I had won until I scanned it at the corner store where I bought the ticket.”
BCLC says while Fodor didn’t win the big jackpot, she matched all seven numbers for one of the 42 Maxmillion prizes from the Jan 7. draw, splitting the prize with an Ontario resident who had the same numbers.
“Amazing, pure happiness,” Fodor added. “I will buy a truck and probably a fifth wheel (trailer) for travelling and invest the rest wisely.”
“It will make a huge difference in my life.”
