Next month at the Sandman Center will be the Blazers Memorial Cup Anniversary to commemorate 25 years since the Blazers last won the Memorial Cup.
Chief Operating Officer of the Kamloops Blazers, Don Moores says the event will be great time for fans but also a trip down memory lane for the Blazers alumni that will be participating.
“We’re going to have a autograph session for all of the fans, absolutely free, it’ll be at Sandman Center and all of the guys will be here”.
“We’ve got 65 players and coaches coming back and to me that’s just awesome, it just goes to show how guys don’t forget they’re a Blazer and how great it is that they’re coming back”.
Some of the big name Blazer alumni that will be attending the event will be Bob Brown, Ken Hitchcock, Rob Brown, Greg Evtushevsky, Tom Renny, Greg Hawgood, Shane Doan, Scott Niedermayer, Ken Hitchcock and more.
The celebrations for that memorable win will be happening on the 21st and 22nd of February at the Sandman Center and will include the Gord Bamford #REDNEK Music Fest, an autograph session with Blazer alumni and then a Blazer game on the Saturday against the Calgary Hitmen.
“In the two days, which is the 21st and 22nd, there is five different events going on”.
“Everyone is working hard and we’ve got a lot of things going and it’s going to be exciting and the idea of was to not just celebrate the 25th anniversary but to celebrate all of those teams that actually went to Memorial Cup” says Moores.
The Blazers won the Memorial Cup in 1992, 1994 and 1995.
