Thompson Rivers University says rumors of a coronavirus case, or cases, on campus are false.
Spokesperson Darshan Lindsay is asking people to get information from reliable sources.
She tells NL News the school has acted in the wake of the global outbreak of the virus, which has made thousands of people sick and has killed more than 350 people in China.
“We have formed an advisory group reviewing our pandemic plan, and that is a precautionary measure just given the changing nature of the situation. So it’s to ensure we are prepared and able to respond as the situation changes.”
The virus broke out in December in Wuhan, China.
Lindsay says only six out of more-than-500 international students from China went home over the holidays, and she TRU has talked to those students and has no concerns.
She also couldn’t say if any students have been tested for the disease.
