Three coin collections have been recovered by Kamloops RCMP and now it is in search of their rightful owners.
Police say that there has been three incidents that date back as far as August, 2018 where coins were seized. The latest such incident was this past December. Coins were found in stolen vehicles on two occasions, but they did not belong to the registered owners of the vehicles. The third set of coins were seized from a home during a search warrant.
Cpl. Jodie Shelkie says it has tried to find the owners but so far have been unsuccessful. “We’ve searched our database of stolen and lost items, but it’s very limited without serial numbers or names. There is nothing to tie the coins to an owner; sometimes, people will steal things that also have some identification with it, but not in any of these cases.”
Shelkie adds that they may hang onto the collections for one year or so, before considering whether to put them up for auction.
Anyone who has information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 25-828-3000.
