The CAO for the Thompson Nicola Regional District is warning property taxes may have to go up.
Sukh Gill made the comment to the board of directors after it approved 7 million dollars in capital projects this year, its share of a 15 million dollar Interior Health budget for the region.
Gill says, this is about three million dollars higher than the normal annual request.
“There isn’t any tax increase this year because we’ve seen some savings on a couple of our other projects that are re designated towards that additional requests that they have, so no tax increase this year, but those additional dollars that we found elsewhere, wouldn’t be there in the future.
The money will be used to buy equipment for health facilities including Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
