The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) has decided against investigating a plane crash further that injured a pilot in Merritt earlier this week.
The TSB was notified on Monday, Feb. 10 after the wreck of a small plane was found on the tarmac of Merritt’s airport shortly after midnight. It was as the RCMP were responding to reports of a missing person – later revealed to be the pilot – which led them to the airport.
The pilot – a Merritt man in his 60’s – was pulled from the wreck and treated for serious injuries at the time. Officials believe the crash happened late on Sunday, and the pilot’s condition is not known, however he is expected to survive.
In an update today, the TSB says after gathering and reviewing preliminary information about the incident, they’ve decided not to pursue the matter further.
The City of Merritt maintains the airport and is in the middle of planning to upgrade the Merritt Airport.
