A man who had stolen from a local store has been arrested after a chase that took police to Lower Sahali this afternoon.

Police were called at 2:30 p.m. about a man who had stolen from a store, and then pulled out a weapon when a loss prevention officer tried to stop him.

Kamloops RCMP found the suspect near Columbia Street West. That person then fled on foot and was arrested in the backyard of a home in the area.

Mounties are recommending charges of theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon and resisting arrest.

The suspect will appear in Kamloops court tomorrow.
