A promised 200 million dollar project to twin a section of the Trans Canada near Chase is slated to begin sometime this year according to the Province’s Transportation Minister but one local MLA isn’t holding his breath.
Peter Milobar was on the NL Morning News and said this proposal isn’t something new. “This project was announced long before the NDP came into government. It was supposed to be basically done by now. They still haven’t meaningfully started to work on it.”
The Kamloops North Thompson Liberal MLA said the long promised project keeps getting pushed back and he doesn’t know what the problem is.
“If it’s waiting for an announcement, lets get on with this project. A lot of people have been waiting for it and it’s ridiculous how it’s taking to be delayed.”
Milobar thinks it’s political posturing “There’s an old saying about black-top politics and that’s usually right before an election you run around and pave as much as you can in the province.”
He says the Horgan NDP government seem to be doing things backwards. “The NDP seem to be doing black top politics the exact reveres in the Interior. They announce projects but keep delaying them.”
