This is Chamber Week, a chance for Chambers of Commerce across the province to show people what they do but there’s one event in the city that’s aimed at future business people.
Executive Director of the Kamloops Chamber, Acacia Pangalinin, explained on the NL Morning News. “On Thursday I’m actually helping out with the Junior Achievement BC’s Economics for Success Day.”
“That’s where they bring, I think she said over 800 high school students to the university, and we take a whole day with them going over careers skills, life skills, basic budgeting, financial skills, so ya, it’s going to be a fun day.”
She says the students are getting a chance to hear from people that have been there. “It’s really great because we’re actually bringing in professionals from the business community that are teaching this really great content so they will also talk about their own personal experiences and what they’ve gone through to get to the places where they’re at in life, which is awesome.”
Pangalinin thinks this is the kind of teaching students prefer for this type of subject. “I thinks that’s what young people really want to hear is the stories of people but they’ll also be teaching really important life skills that will be crucial for these youth once they get into university and beyond.”
