Kamloopsians stepped up to the plate in a big way yesterday, raising over $236,000 during Radio NL’s Radiothon for Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, pushing the goal of raising $1,000,000 in the fundraiser’s six year history over the top.
So now the million dollar question is, where does that money go?
The cash will go to a number of things, including attracting new people as Foundation CEO Heidi Coleman said on the NL Morning News.
“Recruitment. Next Friday, on the 28th, we’re welcoming a neurologist and her husband who are coming in from Ontario, They’re checking us out.”
“I got him some interviews at TRU and she’s going to work.”
“We’re going to take her skiing and hopefully the two of them are going to move to Kamloops. So, that’s also part of what the foundation is doing with help from the regional hospital district.”
A long with recruitment, Coleman says the money will go to various medical equipment and upgrades.
She’s hoping the pair will be impressed enough to make the move to the Tournament Capital.
